Highs and Lows

This week has had its highs and its lows. I always find January to be kind of a dreary month in and of itself. It's cold and blah. So, I'm ready to usher this month out and get a little bit closer to spring! Anyway, Sunday started out on a high note with Luke turning 6 months old. We got him a little cake and sang "Happy Half-Birthday" to him. It was cute. We didn't let him eat any of the cake but he got his hand all in the icing and made a mess:)

Then, the next day, Monday, was a definite low cause I had to take Owen to the dentist to get his first cavity filled. I felt so bad that he had a cavity, first of all, and then knowing what he was going to have to go through. No fun at all. But, he survived. I survived. It was rough, and I'm glad it's over.

Not much else going on this week except I've been working on Luke's naps. As in I'm tired of having to rock, jostle, cajole him to sleep, then lay him down and have him wake up and cry. So, I decided he would just have to fuss some and learn how to get himself to sleep somewhere besides my arms. I'm not letting him full-blown cry it out. I'll let him fuss for a few minutes at a time and then go in and give him the paci. But, I refuse to pick him back up after laying him down in the crib. I've been doing this the past 2 days and it usually takes 15-20 minutes before he goes to sleep. I'm hoping to phase out nighttime feedings soon as well. I'll take Luke for his 6 month checkup next week. Anyway, so that's what has been going on here. I posted a few photos below.

Hanging Around

Haven't blogged in awhile. Been trying to recover from the chaos of the holidays and to find places to put all the new "stuff." So, I've been purging and re-organizing. Not much else to do on super cold days anyway. We got a light dusting of snow last week, which resulted in no preschool for Owen for last Thursday and this Tuesday. Owen loved playing in the snow, but we all got a little bit of cabin fever after several days at home. I'm ready for spring!

Anyway, sorry I don't have any exciting news or antecdotes to blog about today. Just thought I'd leave you with a video of Luke. He's getting so big and changing so much! He'll be 6 months old on the 24th.
