Summer is Here

You know it's summer when it's time to get out the inflatable pool! We get one of these for Owen every year, and he loves it! It will usually last a good 2-3 months before it pops or gets blown away by the wind.

Below are pictures of Owen playing with my brother Gil. He was here for a short visit, and Owen was super excited. At one point they were playing in Owen's room and I went to check on them, Owen informed me I needed to leave because it was "private".  He loved showing Gil all his toys and having his full attention!

Saturday morning we dropped Owen off at Pop & Gran's house. We did a few chores at home and then drove to Nashville and spent the rest of the weekend there to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed at the Opryland Hotel. I'd always wanted to stay there at least once, so that's why we picked there. It was definitely pricey, and we probably won't ever stay there again. It was nice but not really worth what they charge. Our first night there we met our friends Heather and Brent at Opry Mills for dinner at the Aquarium Restaurant. Here's a picture of me and Buck at dinner that Heather snapped for us.

This is a picture of their son Peter. He was so cute and such a good boy!

The rest of our weekend we mostly spent shopping at Opry Mills. All that walking just about did me in! My body was like, whoa, there missy! I felt like the typical waddling pregnant woman. Especially when we missed the last shuttle back to the hotel and so we had to walk back! That was rough. We also saw the Star Trek movie. Buck really liked it. I've never been a Star Trek fan, but I thought it was entertaining enough.

In other news, I had another doctor's appt. yesterday. I'm 31 weeks, and I had gained 4 more pounds. Which makes for 7 overall. I expected that because I feel I've definitely "popped" as they say. It's getting really hard to bend over and do certain tasks. But, I'm in the homestretch, only 8 more weeks to go!

Tidbits and Stories from Owen

I've been meaning to blog for awhile but could never get my thoughts together and/or find the time. It's a lot harder to find free time now that Mothers Day Out is over for the summer. Sigh. So, I'll just share some tidbits before I go to bed. Oh, and the picture above is of me and Owen on Mother's Day. Yes, I'm in what I call the "ugly" stage of pregnancy. No matter what I wear I feel huge and well, ugly. Okay, onto the tidbits.

--Last month's book club selection was Slumdog Millionaire. Didn't like the movie at all. Liked the book some but that's not really saying a lot. Not much else to say on that. Have no desire to ever travel to India......

--Been in a purging/re-organizing mood lately. Luke's room is  FINALLY  making progress. Seeing as it was our guest room, it had accumulated lots of miscellaneous junk, especially in the closet. I've gotten it mostly cleaned out and started washing and putting away clothes for Luke in there. Had a yard sale last weekend which went really well and we got rid of a lot of stuff. Our garage and closets are probably as clean and empty as they'll be for a long time. As for Luke's room, I still need to hang curtains, put stuff on the wall, wash the bedding, etc. I hope to get that finished and post pictures soon.

--Seemingly overnight Owen has turned into a typical boy obsessed with swords and hitting people/animals/furniture. I got him a dress-up kit for his birthday, which had a pirate costume with a sword. Now, he goes around and tells me he's Goliath and then pummels his poor stuffed animals. I even caught him saying, "I kill you, Ernie!" I'm like, whoa, where is this coming from? What happened to my sweet little boy? Plus, he's got quite the imagination. He told me yesterday. "Mama, I hit you with my sword and knock you into that light.....and it will cook you......and then I will eat you.....and then poop you out and flush you down the toilet!" I had no response to that!

--Buck and I will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary on Monday, the 25th. We are lucky that Buck's parents are willing to keep Owen for us for 2 nights this weekend so we can get away and celebrate (i.e. sleep and have an actual conversation). Yay!!!! Hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend too.

Baby Luke Update: 29 weeks

Had my monthly doctor's appointment today. Now I have to start going back every 2 weeks. Yikes, that means I'm getting close to the end! I hadn't gained any weight since last month, so that puts me at only gaining 3 pounds overall thus far. This kind of worried me since I haven't really been trying to diet or anything and I wondered if Luke was growing like he should, but the doctor said he was measuring right where he should be and seemed pretty pleased that I hadn't gained much weight. I'll probably go back in 2 weeks and have gained 10 pounds or something! Who knows. Anyway, I'm just glad that Luke is growing and doing well. I can definitely feel him kicking and punching me at all hours of the day and night!

I also got to schedule the date of my C-section. So, unless he comes early (which he probably will since Owen was 10 days early),  he's scheduled to arrive on Friday, July 24. I'll be 39 weeks and 2 days at that point.

Destin Part 2

Blogger is driving me nuts today. It's doing all kinds of funky things to my posts so I apologize. Here are a bunch of pics in a row, I hope.

At our hotel in Alabama.

Then on Saturday we stopped at the Montgomery Zoo. We were really impressed with all the animals we got to see up close. Plus it had a nice playground and a train to ride.

Wow, a tiger!

Riding the train

At our condo on Sunday before church

Owen loved the beach!

My big man, chillin on the beach

Destin Trip Part 1

We're back from the beach!

We had an awesome time. It was our first real family vacation. We had never driven with Owen further than 3 hours and he'd never spent the night in a hotel before, so this was super exciting for him (and us). Here he is in the car right before we headed out on Friday. We left after lunch around noon and drove halfway to Destin, stopping in Alabama to spend the night. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, which turned out to be really nice. I was worried what we'd be able to find on the road without a reservation, but it worked out perfectly. Owen loved it because it had a pool! He really preferred the hot tub though:)
