Weekly Appointments

I can't believe it's that time already, but I've started having my weekly doctor's appointments. I was about 1 cm dilated at my appointment yesterday, which is what I was with Owen at this point. Also, said that Luke is head down. Had actually lost a pound, which surprised me.

Hmmm, what else? Having my baby shower tomorrow, so I'm excited about that. Our church had Vacation Bible School this week so that's been fun but exhausting. Owen loved it, especially the running around afterwards and partaking of the cookies and juice. He's also been "acting out" more lately which I'm not really sure about why. Maybe he's just feeling the stress of the big change that's about to hit our family. Today I had to abandon my shopping cart at Walmart and take him home because he wouldn't stop crying and fussing. He wanted me to put him in the cart to ride, but I can't pick him up at this point of pregnancy. Usually he loves helping me push the cart but not today! He's also been having more "accidents," which is frustrating. Hoping this will pass soon!

Luke's Nursery

Well, it seems that Luke's room is finally done (yay!), or at least as done as it's going to get! I'm about to run out of steam these days being 8 months pregnant and with the weather being so hot and humid. We're still waiting on a custom shade to come in for his big window. The curtains just aren't cutting it as far as keeping out the light and heat. So, we're hoping the shade will help with that. We're also thinking about installing a ceiling fan as well. Anyway, I'm pretty  happy with how the room has turned out overall. Now, we just need the baby to get here!

We didn't have to buy much since we are re-using Owen's crib, changing table, and glider. I bought new bedding though. I got the artwork off of Ebay and love it. The lighthouse picture over the changing table was one we already had. It was a groomsmen's gift given to Buck several years ago.

Okay, so the bumper pad isn't tied in yet. Sigh. Add that to the list:) Anyway, when picking the crib bedding, I tried to find something simple that would coordinate easily with other stuff. I found this Chase bedding from Pottery Barn Kids.

Here's the other side of the room. We are using the same lamp and bookshelf from Owen's nursery, but the corner shelves are new. And, of course, we had to put Luke's name on the wall since we have Owen's name up on the wall in his room. If I ever get Owen's room cleaned up and bed made, I'll post pictures of it too.

My Terrible, No-Good, Very Bad Walmart Experience

The day started out innocently enough. I managed to successfully bypass the Bonnaroo traffic this morning and drop Owen off at my mom's house for the day. Then, I headed back home, did miscellaneous chores, and then I headed back out to run errands before my doctor's appointment at 2:30.  One of my chores was to create a baby registry at Walmart. I thought I'd go to the Walmart in Murfreesboro since it would have greater selection than our town's store and since I had to go to M'boro anyway for my doctor's appointment.

Well, it had been raining and my flip flops get very slick when wet. So, I made sure to stomp and rub them off when I first walked into the store. Then about a minute later as I made my way through the store, BAM, I slipped and fell right on my tush. One leg out in front. Stunned and embarrassed, I jumped up hoping no one saw me. I'm thinking, Am I okay? What just happened? Collecting myself for a few seconds, I decide to keep going and see if I can find where I'm supposed to go to create my registry. (I have no idea if anyone saw me fall or not. No one approached me to help me up, so I'm guessing not.)

I walk slowly through the women's clothes section and find an associate and ask her where I go to create my registry. She says I need to go all the way to the back of the store to the Site-to-Store area. Okay, great. I keep walking and telling myself I'm fine. I get back there and, of course, no one is there. I stand around and wait about 5 minutes when a lady finally shows up. She then informs me that I need to go to the "Connections" desk right over there (apparently where the cell phones are turned on or "connected.") Sigh, getting annoyed and increasingly tired, I  stumble over there, where yet again, there is no one there. I stand and wait and sigh and get further annoyed when other Walmart associates walk past me and ignore me. I finally give up and walk over to the camera desk and tell them what I need. The guy goes to find someone to help me and comes back with the news that I can NOT create a registry at this store but only online! I am stunned. I ask why I can't create a registry at this particular store? He says it's probably because they are doing a re-vamp of the store and don't have the kiosk/equipment for registries anymore. I'm so mad and tired and can't believe I went through all this and accomplished nothing!

Fuming, I call Buck to vent and, after hanging up, realize my legs and thighs are getting very sore and it's getting very hard to walk. I start waddling slowly back towards the store entrance. Every step becomes more painful, and I start to wonder if I can make it back to the car. I force myself to keep walking, and thankfully I make it back to the car without falling again. I decide I better go straight to the doctor, even though my appointment isn't for another hour and a half.

So, the doctor checks me out. Thankfully, Luke is fine. Heartbeat was fine. However, Mommy is not fine. I'm very, very sore from the waist down. It's very hard to walk, and I honestly didn't know if I could get myself up the steps and into the house when I got home. I'm now laying down and resting and hoping that a good night's rest will do me a world of good.  Guess I need to get some different shoes to wear for the rest of the summer, preferably ones with grippers on the bottom! Hope everyone out there had a better day than I did.

Cousins

Last week Owen got to spend some time with his "Knoxville cousins" as we call them. Kaeley and Ella came to stay with Grandma Joan & Grandaddy for a few days, so one day we all went to the Bounce Barn together. They had a blast! Owen loves following Kaeley around and copying everything she does. Usually he's scared of the big slides there, but he was sliding down head first in hot pursuit to keep up with Kaeley. Here's a few shots that I captured (it's really hard to photograph children mid-bounce!).

Then, on Saturday, we went to cousin Garrett's 3rd birthday party. Owen loved getting to play outside, drink Koolaid, and eat cupcakes. It's hard to believe that next year at this time we'll have 2 more little ones running around or at least crawling. Donna, Garrett's mom, is expecting a girl in July, just a few weeks before I'm due.

Discovery Center & Strawberry Picking

As my due date quickly approaches, I'm realizing my days with just one child won't last much longer, and so I've been trying to take fun trips with Owen and relish our time together. I know it will be much harder to get out of the house once Luke is here. Yesterday we went to the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro. It's been a year or more since we'd been, and they had added a lot of new things. Owen loved it! He especially loved the big slide and playing mechanic. We took wheels off and on, and off and on, and, well, you get the idea. Then, today we went to a farm to pick strawberries. It was soooo hot!!! I had to quit after about 25 minutes because I thought I would die. So, we may not have come home with many, but we had a fun time. We sat in the shade and enjoyed a strawberry honey popsicle. Yum! Enjoy the pictures below.
