Toddler Battles

Parenting a 2-year-old can feel like a battleground for control at times. Bedtime, bathtime, okay, all the time! Lately Owen has really been testing to see what he can get away with and who really is in charge. Admittedly, he's in charge way too much! But sometimes you just have to laugh at some of the things he says and does.

For example, yesterday afternoon, I heard him messing around with something in our dining room and guessed he was probably playing with some plastic decorative pumpkins I had sitting out. He's been in trouble before because he likes to tear the stems off of them. So, I ask Buck to go check on him. Then I hear Buck say,"Okay, Owen, it's not funny. Give me the pumpkin!" This totally cracked me up! I know most days I get caught up in being the authoritative Mommy who has to discipline her child and I forget to just relax and smile. I'll try to remember that later today when Owen's awake from his nap and driving me batty!
